Jillian creates a warm and welcoming space for her clients to be vulnerable, seen, and challenged. Jillian believes that we are all a product of our experiences, and thus, shows deep empathy and compassion for her clients, regardless of their perceived pitfalls. It is only human to feel there are parts of our past of which we are not proud. However, Jillian believes our past does not need to dictate our future.
Jillian has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and general life transitions. As a specialist in OCD & anxiety therapy, she also has a special interest and experience in working with the LGBTQIA+ population of all ages. Additionally, Jillian is extremely passionate about working with people who struggle with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She finds great pride in seeing her clients learn how to effectively cope with life’s uncertainties and challenges.
Jillian focuses on many different modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, narrative therapy, and strength-based approaches. She believes in the power of intentional choice and values-based action, and thus, often utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when working with her clients. ACT is rooted in behavioral therapy but incorporates elements of acceptance and mindfulness. She helps her clients learn how to be less reactive and more intentional in their choices so they can begin to behave in ways that are aligned with their values and goals. Additionally, Jillian incorporates the evidenced-based treatment, Exposure and Response Prevention(EX/PR), when working with clients who struggle with OCD. This is a challenging, yet highly effective approach to help significantly decrease frequency and severity of OCD symptoms.
We welcome Jillian to the In Focus team as she brings a lot of experience around OCD and anxiety and is available for counseling with those struggling with these disorders.
